By the time a record reaches the press, the audio cut, artwork and most production choices have already been approved. That is why a clear check before manufacturing can prevent expensive changes later. It does not eliminate every pressing risk, but it gives the project a better starting point.
Check the audio programme
Confirm the final version of every track, side order, running times and any intentional gaps or endings. Audio prepared for streaming is not automatically ready for a vinyl cut. The cutting engineer needs to assess the programme's length and content; a late change can mean repeating work.
Check print files against the actual specification
Use the templates for the sleeve, labels and any inserts you have chosen. Check bleed, dimensions, resolution, text and the correct version of every file. A beautiful mock-up can still fail a technical print check if it was built to the wrong template.
Make approvals explicit
Keep one agreed list of format, quantity, vinyl colour, packaging and delivery details. Know who will approve the artwork and test pressing, and allow time for their response. Ask what can still be changed at each stage; the answer becomes different once cutting, printing or pressing has begun.
